The fact that I only had a .2 gain is pretty much a miracle (though according to WW I was down .4 since I wore heavier clothes last week :) )
I had a pretty bad week - so much that 1 day I didn't even weigh myself.
The weekend was a lot of grazing and me eating an entire chocolate santa that was in our freezer (mine from my stocking, nothing I stole from the kids!)
My client was in this week so there were breakfasts and lunches brought in and a fancy smancy dinner out. At one point the scale was up by 6 lbs!
I had high hopes for this coming week and the rest of the week should be good....though for "breakfast" this morning I have had granola, breakfast bars and my daughter's leftover Lo Mein from dinner last night (We had zero food in the house last night so me and my son went to McD but I didn't eat - not even the fries he didn't eat, and I had a variety of healthy munchies for dinner, and I sent my husband and daughter out to dinner after her skating lesson.
As part of getting the shopping list together last night I realized that a lot of stuff in our pantry was expired, so today's shopping ended up being a $$ stocking up.
The exercise highlight of last week was going swimming after my daughter's class. She and I did some laps before my husband and son joined us for free swim. Right after we got home I ordered myself goggles and a swimming cap that I get to try out tomorrow.

Weekly Weigh-in #8
Starting Weight (12/1/2012): 232.2
Last Week: 195.6
Current Weight: 196.4
Change Since Last Week: +0.8
Total Change: -35.8
Height: 5'6"
Goal: 149
Even after my post last night, I was disappointed in the number this morning - so often Saturday morning weigh-ins provided miracles. But it is what it is.
And because I wore my running stuff to the meeting, the scale difference was 2 lbs, instead of the usual 1.2 - 1.6, so WW had me at a 1.2 lb gain.
BUT I did as I intended and ran home from the mechanic. It felt great! Just 2 miles. I have no idea how fast I ran because I just plugged in my music and went.
Off to make chili and clean the house. Happy Saturday!

Low expectations for weigh-in
This week didn't end up being what I had hoped it would be, and I am so thankful for it being Friday.
Work stress continued though it was be better than last week. At least this week I got some help. For the most part I ate well at work - Monday we had our monthly birthday celebration with my old team and instead of cupcakes they brought in cheesecake tarts and I had 2; another day I grabbed a granola bar for a snack instead of my normal Vitatop and fruit cup. But I ate my normal breakfast and lunches all week, though lunch 2 days wasn't until 2 o'clock (and I hadn't had time to eat my snack).
Exercise was non-existent. I was working late most evenings and the nights I only worked until 9 or 10, I just wanted to sleep, sleep, sleep even though my legs with antsy from sitting all day - I knew working out would feel great, but sleep won out.
On Friday nights I usually have a PB&J sandwich and a fruit cup. Since I can't work from home on Fridays right now, I didn't have any bread except a bagel thin, which wouldn't have been enough. So I had that, and a banana, then a bunch of salsa (fresh) and chips, and a few bites of my son's mac&cheese. The scale has been up all week - so, like the title, low expectations for tomorrow.
But...After my meeting I have to bring my car into the shop. Since it will be 8 am, I told my husband he didn't need to pick me up. It is only 2 miles from our house. I can run home :) Yes it is supposed to be almost freezing and raining, but that is okay. That is what cold weather gear is for!

I hope for a good week
Last week at work really, really sucked. Unfortunately the next week probably won't be any better. But I need to have a better week psychologically and physically.
The weekend didn't end up being as "on-plan" as I intended
--Before the birthday party at Chuck E Cheese I ate my normal lunch. But I succumbed to some of the pizza brought for the parents and a very, very small piece of cake. I did stick to water though.
--Dinner was stew made in the crock pot - but I ate some of the noodles I made for the kids. But I did skip the bread and butter the rest of the family was having.
--An impulse buy on Friday night was a dozen mini cupcakes - so we each got 3 and I enjoyed each one :)
--Slices of cheese made it into my mouth as I was making chicken cordon bleu Sunday night for dinner.
The good part of the weekend was I lifted weights at the Y during my daughter's swimming lesson. I wasn't incredibly impressed with all the machines - I thought there were more than there were, but turned out there was just a second set of almost everything. A few machines I had been hoping for they didn't have. But they had the major ones I wanted. I don't use a lot of the machines because I do so much with free weights, but some of the leg machines are great and there are some muscles I don't feel like I am getting adequately enough with free weights. So hopefully next weekend I will be a little more organized.
The current plan is:
Monday - Rest
Tuesday - Cardio
Wednesday - Weights at home
Thursday - Cardio
Friday - Weights at home
Saturday - Cardio (not sure when I will fit this in)
Sunday - Weights at the gym/ ?Free swim
Eventually I will want to get to the gym to do weights on Saturdays and do my long run on Sunday, but as long as I am running inside, I can do it on Saturday (I really should have gotten outside this weekend and run since it was in the 40s and 50s - by next weekend it will be in the 20s).

Change Since Last Week: -3.6
Total Change: -36.4

Christmas Weight Gain Gone! I really wasn't expecting that. Even Friday morning the scale was a lot higher.
This past week was extremely stressful. I started a new project at work, while also working on my old project. I am supposed to be 50-50 for the month of January, but each project wants your 100%. Sucks. We had collegues in from our New York office so lunch was ordered in - including brownies or the cookies that are as big as your head.
Other eating was a little wacky - my daughter decided she wanted to start having bananas on her cereal, which meant we ran out on Tuesday! It really isn't convenient for me or my husband to get to the store on our way home from work, so I substituted my banana for 3 days, which really wasn't a good substitute.
And working from home on Fridays is no more, which isn't great for the psyche, but also screws with my grocery shopping schedule. I had told work if I can't work from home on Fridays I need to leave at 4:00, but of course our new client scheduled a meeting from 3:30 -4:30 on Friday. But as soon as the kids were home from skating and I had fed them, I ran out to go shopping.
Exercise really didn't happen. Last Sunday when my daughter was at swimming, I did try out the treadmill at the gym - I only got in 1.5 miles. Better than nothing! I really shouldn't be doing cardio during her class though - I should take advantage of the weights I don't have at home. So it will be a little experimentation.
I am a little nervous about our dinners this week. We've really gone through our staple meals during the holidays and I am so bored with them, so I am trying a few new things. Right now I've got stew in the crock pot for tonight - I haven't used my crock pot for anything besides pulled pork and chili, so this should be interesting. I am going to skip the rolls.
Since I was so surprised with my weight this morning, I am going to be diligent over the weekend instead of having a real cheat time. The kids have a birthday party, but I am going to eat before we go. And I am going to try to keep my weekend meals normal. I am dieing to get under 195!

Weekly Weigh-in #6
Starting Weight (12/1/2012): 232.2
Last Week: 201.0
Current Weight: 199.2
Change Since Last Week: -1.8
Total Change: -33.0

Good news is I am down from last Saturday, bad news is that the Holiday Damage is 3.4 lbs. Let's hope it comes off soon!
The 3.4 lbs was not from a lot of extra meals and extra parties, it was more stress eating (like spoonfuls of Nutella out of the jar) - stress of extra work (at work to do) and extra responsibilities and kids being in rare form because of the holidays. Though some of it was bring extra treats into the house.
The treats are FINALLY gone!
So now I can get back to concentrating on me! I still have a lot of stress with work coming up, but I am really going to try to not let it de-rail my progress. I may be working at night, but I am going to try to still get to sleep at 10:30 and wake up at 5:30 and work out. And I am going to just eat the foods I bring to work.

The Year Behind, The Year Ahead
I didn't mean to go all this time without writing, but that usually means that I haven't been doing well in the eating department and that is correct.
--Saturday December 21st I did go to WW - I was up .8 (196.6)
--Saturday December 28th I planned on going to WW but not weighing in because the scale said 201! I slept through the 7:00 meeting, got up and showered and dressed to go to the 8:30 - I walked through the door and there was barely anyone there and there was a sub leader, so I turned around and walked out - I had so many plans for the day, which included de-Christmasing the house.
But first, how did I get from 196.6 to 201??!! The weekend before Christmas we baked, and baked, and baked. Every year I say less baking, but my kids are finally at the age where they want to bake. And Saturday night we went out for Italian. And Sunday night we went out for Chinese Buffet. And Monday night I made Cheese Fondue and tons of appetizers, and Christmas Eve is my favorite meal of the day. All this time I also was not feeling great and sleeping horribly because I had this pesty cough. So my resilience was low, and lots of treats around (and Santa brought lots too).
This past week has been a bit better, though PMS has prevented it from being 100% better.
Sunday I did get out for a 2.6 mile run - our bike path is iced over, so we improvised and ran around the downtown area. I definitely need to get away from the bike path - it is great for going long distances, but isn't real world since it is completely flat.
But it is a new year. I was 200.6 this morning. I had been 198.6 the day before, but I always seem to have this dip before TOM arrives).
But I got up this morning while my family slept, put on my running clothes, even though it was 20 degrees, and went and ran a 5K race. The same race I ran 2 years ago. I was nervous about running it because 2 years ago I had a horribly stressful year and I was being stupidly superstitious. But I did it, and my running friend joined me this year. I didn't PR - I really didn't expect to since I've only run 3 twice since Thanksgiving, and running in the cold takes a lot of getting used to. But I did it! And this race gives a cool wine-stopper medal too.
So looking at my "resolutions" from this past year, I realize I didn't hit many of them:
2013
I don't like to call them resolutions - more like guidelines, or goals
--Live life - no moving, no vacations to plan, no research of things - play with the toys and games we have; craft crafts with all the stuff we have; make the recipes I've cut out; watch the movies I love; play outside; playside; go camping; explore the woods; take day trips; take weekend trips - just be! This is my #1 for this year - getting settled into the new house took a lot more out of us than we realized, and we just didn't have time for this
--Less time on-line - Big, big fail in this department, but I should be able to do better
--Eat healthy, less, more variety - Seeing that "losing weight" wasn't on my list, I can say I ate healthier because I am 32 lbs less this New Year than I was last, but I also had some pretty huge gains through out the year (including the last 10 days!), so I hope to do better in this category, and making more variety of foods is definitely on my 2014 list as well
--Move my body - inside, outside, for fun - I did C25K and I ran more often and longer (the max being 7 miles) than ever, but I need to do more - strength training, cross training, more races, but also get outside and move my body with my kids
--Live on a budget - Another fail - Major medical bills but us far behind where we planned on being on 1/1/2014, so we need to build back savings, save for a long Disney trip, and buy us all bikes. We are going to be pretty drastic this year, which we need to do anyways.
--Have more patience with my kids and my husband - More failures
--Pray we don't lose another parent this year - Thankfully this is one area we did succeed, not that we have any ability to change this, though FIL was ill this year
--Blog a lot more - I barely made 40 posts this year! I want to make at least 250-300! Around 150, so not what I expected. They've blocked blogging sites at work, so it made it harder.
What else for 2014?
I am excited about getting bikes, and camping, and going to Disney, and doing some other small trips, and cooking all the recipes I've been collecting, and doing all the crafts I've pinned, and read the books I've been buying, and just being, just doing, and as part of that eating healthier and cleaner and eating less, and losing weight (can't say how much) and moving, moving, moving.
Here is to 2014!
