First run back

It had been 7 weeks since I last summer. The hiatus was no planned, but I was loving my life without the kids at home so I was staying up way too late and sleeping until the last minute, plus the heat was just awful from the moment we got home on July 5. Apparently it was the hottest July on record here. Fun.

But my 10K is in 9 weeks and my 1/2 marathon is in 23 weeks, so I NEED to get running because I do NOT want to miss this 10K (like I am missing tomorrow). The heat and humidity had slightly broken. I didn't lay out clothes last night because I was sick of doing that and then not running. I slept in a little (until 6:00 vs 5:30 since the kids aren't at camp today) and when I looked it was 58 degrees with 86% humidity. I couldn't pass it up. I almost didn't wear a watch or bring my music, but in the end I chose both. I also knew I didn't need water just for 3 not very humid miles.

The 3 miles wasn't too pretty (average of 13:30) but I got it done without stopping (I wasn't very out of breath). But run #1 done!

I am at 122.5 miles for the year. Goal is 200 so I should be able to pass that.

I did get in 3 Beach Body workouts this week. I'll just say that going to the bathroom has been a little painful. #squats. I packed workout clothes for this weekend - I hope I get them done.

So this is happening. The one who will be 13 next week.

Forever I was 5'6 1/2" but at some point I went to the doctor and was 5'5 1/2". But after I had lost the 50 pounds I was taller. I think either the weight is compressing my spine and/or causing my lower back to arch thus causing me to be shorter. I hope losing weight will allow me to get my inch back!

I won't even talk about what this full picture looked like. Ugh, side shot, awful!!! But incentive!

Happy Friday!

  1. Yay to the first run!!!! Good job!!!

I have always been 5’7” and a half. I just had my yearly wellness check done at work...5’6 1/2. Where do that inch go? I want my inch!!! So your optimism about getting the inch back when I lose gave me hope!!!!
